The Shepherd Center of Kernersville is excited to announce that Asheley Cooper has accepted the position of Executive Director. We look forward to her starting a new chapter with our organization effective April 10, 2024.

Asheley brings a wealth of experience and new ideas to The Shepherd Center of Kernersville. Asheley attended Winston-Salem State University and earned her Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology while serving as an assistant Senior Center Director at The Shepherd’s Center of Winston-Salem. Since 2013, Asheley has worked for ADTS (Aging, Disability & Transit Services) of Rockingham County in several roles. Initially hired at ADTS as Community Resource Coordinator, she was promoted to Director of Adult Services after 15 months. With over 5 years experience in the Director of Adult Services role, Asheley was promoted to Community Outreach & Development Director. Asheley grew up in Kernersville and has family residing in Kernersville.

The Board of Directors believes that Asheley has the experience, the professional network, and the community building / development track record to lead our organization as our new Executive Director. Our staff is thrilled to welcome Asheley on board and is excited to assist her in this transition for our organization.

We were thrilled o have had over 90 of our incredible volunteers in attendance for our BANDANAS & BOOTS VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION BANQUET on Friday, April 19th! In the spirit of the Wild West, we wanted to tip our hats to each and every one of our volunteers for lassoing up their time and talents to support our mission. We acknowledged several volunteers for their selfless and amazing volunteerism. The volunteers that we awarded & pinned were: Jennifer Bowers, Becky Lewis, Ralph Neal, Debbie Walker, Jon Walker, Rob Dotson, Jeanne Weyant, Ann Hiatt, & Walt Morgan. A special presentation and announcement was made about the contributions and support of Pastoral Counselor-Tom Lee, Past Executive Director-Heather Camp, and Board Members-Mindy Grubbs, Curtis Campbell, and Irving Grigg. Thank you volunteers for saddling up with us for this special appreciation event. Yeehaw!

The Shepherd’s Center of Kernersville empowers individuals and enriches the lives of older or disabled adults in our community. We believe this provides dignity, respect, purpose, and other essentials of life.
